Bounce! started out as a relatively modest weekend event to welcome the Paralympics to Northern Ireland. As word spread about the programme, the Arts & Disability Forum’s Staff and Board had no choice but to respond to the level of interest and expand the programme. More and more artists ‘bounced’ on board, and the programme grew into an exciting eight day festival, celebrating the talent of disabled artists and showing some of the best work on these islands and much further afield.
We made no apologies for particularly targeting disabled audiences and for doing our utmost to make the events as accessible as possible. However we know that the quality – and perhaps the quirkiness – gave this unique programme much wider appeal. On the following two pages you can see a brief resume of the events we programmed in 2012. Fundraising permitting, Bounce! will bounce back with a whole new programme of events in the weekend of August 24th 2013.
